West Coast businesses rally behind Rescue Helicopter
Solid Energy is encouraged by support from West Coast businesses in the two weeks of the Solid Energy Rescue Helicopter appeal which will run throughout May. As part of the annual fundraising drive, the company reaches out to businesses and organisations in its West Coast mining communities for donations, and this year the response so far has been outstanding.
We would like to extend our gratitude to those businesses who made cash donations.
Organisations that could not make a cash donation have come up with creative fundraising ideas of their own. The Westport Returned Service Association is organising a fundraising evening while schools in Karamea, Kumara and Reefton have come up with initiatives to involve students in raising a donation. Kumara School will be having a mufti day where students can forgo their uniform for a day for a gold coin contribution. Karamea Area School will hold a coin trail and Reefton Area School are planning a sausage sizzle.
Many other businesses have offered to host a donation bucket on their premises for the duration of the appeal. more...
