John Palmer
Chairman

A full time company director, John is also Chairman of Air New Zealand Ltd and a director of AMP Life Ltd, Rabobank Australia Ltd, and Saxton Fruit Ltd. In 1998, John received the Bledisloe Cup for his outstanding contribution to the New Zealand fruit industry and in 1999 received an ONZM for service to the New Zealand kiwifruit industry. He became Chairman of Solid Energy in January 2007.

John Fletcher has extensive experience in the energy industry. He held senior positions in Royal Dutch Shell, is a former Managing Director of Shell New Zealand Ltd, and was also a director of New Zealand Refining Company and Fulton Hogan. He is currently a director of ECL Group Ltd, Techtonics Group Ltd and is an advisor to the Board of Tukia Group Ltd.

Alan Broome

Alan is an Australian based mining and minerals expert who has extensive experience in metal casting and steel production. Alan is the Chair of several coal related companies and associations, including CRL Ltd.

Helen Cull
QC

Helen has extensive experience in a range of litigation and public law, has provided advice in a number of areas of legal practice and has served as a company director and board member of several statutory bodies. Appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1997, she is currently a Senior Advisory District Inspector of Mental Health, member of the New Zealand Law Society Ethics Committee and an independent board member of the New Zealand Greyhound Racing Association.

John McDonald

John McDonald is also on the boards of public companies Air New Zealand Ltd, HY-FI Securities Ltd, and Dairy Equities Ltd. An Auckland-based company director, Mr McDonald had more than 30 years’ experience in executive management positions with Tasman Pulp and Paper Co Ltd and Fletcher Challenge through until his retirement in 2001. He was also a director of several Fletcher Challenge subsidiary and joint venture companies in New Zealand and overseas.

Adrienne Young Cooper is a director and principal of Hill Young Cooper Ltd, which specialises in resource management and public policy consulting services. She is a director of two local authority trading enterprises, Auckland Regional Transport Network Ltd and ARTNL Harbour Berths Ltd. Mrs Young Cooper is a member of the New Zealand Planning Institute, the Institute of Directors and the Resource Management Law Association.

David is a current Partner of Minter Ellison Rudd  Watts, specialising in commercial structuring and taxation law; a current Board member of the Fulbright NZ (2009 to present);  Chairman of Tennis NZ (2007 to present); Former Chairman, International Fiscal Association, NZ Branch (2006 and 2007) .

Simon Marsters

Simon is a chemical engineer and former General Manager of Imerys Tableware Division Asia.  He held senior roles in Ceramco Corporation and New Zealand China Clays, being appointed General Manager of New Zealand China Clays in 1987 and becoming an executive director of Ceramco in 1992.  He is currently working as a business broker in Albany.
