Buller tourist attraction raises more than $5000 dollars for rescue helicopter
30 August 2006
More than $5000 has been raised for the Solid Energy West Coast Rescue Helicopter since January, thanks to the generosity of Buller Residents and a visiting "Westports of the World" association.
Donations from Buller Residents, and a $900 donation from a "Westports of the World" tour group, have been collected for the rescue helicopter during free guided visits to Stockton Mine. The visits are a joint initiative between Solid Energy and Outwest tours to provide free tours of Stockton Mine for Buller residents.
Stockton Mine Manager Mike Lynn comments: "Solid Energy has been extremely pleased to be able to offer Outwest tours to Buller residents free of charge. The fact that the residents and Westports of the World have managed to raise $5000 for the rescue helicopter, a vital service on the West Coast, is an extremely welcome bonus."
Solid Energy and Outwest Tours are still providing tours of Stockton Mine free of charge to Buller Residents. To book call 789 6883.
