New Environmental Appointments at Solid Energy
15 September 2005
Coal producer and distributor, Solid Energy, has appointed David Horn to the newly created position of National Consents and Environment Programme Manager, based in the company's Rotowaro office in the Waikato.
David Horn, who is currently Chief Executive of the West Coast Regional Council, will take up his new position in December. Mr Horn will provide leadership in the area of consents applications and in the development, implementation and administration of our environmental programme.
Dr Phil Lindsay, currently Solid Energy's South Island Environmental Scientist, has been appointed National Environmental Operations Manager. Based in Christchurch, Dr Lindsay will be responsible for providing environmental engineering and scientific services to our operations.
Solid Energy Chief Executive, Dr Don Elder, says: "These new appointments underline the company's ongoing commitment to continuous improvement in our environmental performance across all our operations.
"We are pleased to welcome David Horn to the company. He has a proven track record of leadership and will bring to this new role extensive experience of the regulatory environment in which Solid Energy operates.
"With the strengthening of the environmental team we will be in a much better position to support our sites nationally in all our environmental activities, particularly in the big challenges we face in improving water quality management and acid rock drainage where Dr Lindsay currently has a lead role."
