Solid Energy has renewed its support for the Buller Gorge Marathon and Relay for a further two years.
The relay is run as part of the marathon with teams of four each completing 10.55 km of the course. This year's event is on Saturday 10 February.
"We are pleased to continue our support for this amazing event which also raises money for charity, this year Heart Children of New Zealand," said Solid Energy's Chief Operating Officer, Barry Bragg. "Solid Energy is a strong advocate of improving employee health and wellbeing and, along with other initiatives, encourages the participation of staff, family and friends in the Buller Marathon."
Over 100 staff are participating this year from all of Solid Energy's South Island sites. There are 12 teams entered in the relay ranging from families to staff teams. A total of 58 Solid Energy walkers and runners will be participating in the individual section.
The Buller Gorge Marathon starts at Hawkes Crag and heads up the gorge to a turning point near Berlins Hotel before progressing along the Buller Gorge Highway to a finish at Victoria Square in Westport.
The half marathon is a one-way run starting near the Ohika-iti River Bridge and also finishing at Victoria Square.
Last year 33 Solid Energy staff took part, raising $2,500 for Heart Children of New Zealand.
