Cylinders & Buffer Tanks

Switch has selected two brands of hot water cylinders to meet every domestic need, both designed specifically for solar hot water systems.

One is designed to provide solar heated hot water to your home or business; the other provides heat for a hydronic heating system through integrating solar collector systems with boilers.

Everlast

Everlast hot water cylinders are superior in design and construction - inside and out.

Everlast is the only electric hot water heater on the market with a full marine-grade stainless steel inner cylinder and polymer outer casing.

Designed to handle very hot water temperatures generated by Apricus solar panels, up to 100C, Everlast are built to last.

Everlast solar storage tanks have been specifically designed for both gas and electric boosted solar systems. Models are available in 250lt and 315lt.

Everlast’s unique features reduce heat loss and give you more usable hot water, all of the time.

Latento Solar Storage System

The Latento acts as a central heat store, taking in heat from solar collectors and boilers, and distributing it to the heating and hot water systems. It can also provide hot water directly at mains pressure.

The heart of the Latento solar heating system is the solar layer storage. Variably adjustable to your desired performance, the system offers all the components required for an efficient use of solar heat.

Thanks to the flow-type water heater principle, your drinking/showering water remains fresh. Legionella proliferation is prevented, as is lime precipitation which can shorten the service life of your storage system.

HDG Buffer tanks

HDG buffer tanks come in various sizes, from 500 litres to 5000 litres. We recommend about 25 litres of buffer tank for every 1kW of boiler thermal output.

Buffer tanks are used with any wood pellet or other solid fuel boiler to allow the boiler to run for long periods without stopping and starting.

They also help a heating system to respond quickly to changing heat loads; and as a heat store, it can provide more heat, for short periods, than the boiler could alone.

The buffer tank sits between the boiler and the heating and hot water system acting as a buffer between the two. This allows the use of a variety of sophisticated controllers that otherwise wouldn’t work with a wood pellet boiler.

Each buffer tank has four inlets and four outlets at top, bottom and equally spaced in between. They also have four pockets for temperature sensors. This allows a variety of different heating system configurations.

Each tank comes with an insulating jacket made to fit the tank and all its connections.

These tanks can be used in conjunction with solar collectors to make an integrated wood pellet / solar thermal heating system.
