Southland Field Days attendees will get the opportunity to take a free bus tour of Solid Energy's New Vale Mine and find out more about the company's future plans for lignites in the region.

Our staff will be available at the Solid Energy tent to answer questions and share information about our operations. Visitors can see a step-by-step display of how modern opencast mining is done and how the company addresses environmental impacts. Then, travelling just a few kilometres up the road from the Field Days' Waimumu site, they can see how Solid Energy already mines lignite in an environmentally acceptable way at New Vale Mine.

The one-hour tours leave at 10.30am and 2.30pm daily during the Field Days (15-17 February). Bookings are essential so telephone Rachel on (03) 208 8600 or email her at to confirm a place on the bus. Just remember that everyone on the bus tour, including children, must wear enclosed shoes.
